5 BEST PLACE FOR YOGA RETREAT IN INDIA

RISHIKESH

Ganga aarti in triveni ghat - Yoga retreat in India

Rishikesh, a most tranquil place in northern Uttarakhand, surrounded by hills and bisected by the wide and sluggish Ganges, is often claimed as the `Yoga Capital of the World’. Back in the 1960s, Rishikesh gained instant fame as the site where The Beatles came to stay with their guru, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It is an excellent place to meditate and study yoga. Rishikesh is also a good starting Laxman Jhula point for treks to Himalayan pilgrimage centers such as Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamnotri. It is rightly called the gateway to the Himalayan Shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. 7 Story Temple Situated 24 km upstream from Haridwar, at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga and Ganga,

Rishikesh has long been a spiritual center. It is said that the sage Raibhya Rishi did severe penance here and as a reward, God appeared to him in the form of Hrishikesh, hence the name. Rishikesh has numerous ashrams, some of which are internationally recognized as centers of philosophical studies, yoga, and meditation. An international yoga week is organized here every year by Uttarakhand Tourism between the 2nd and 7th of February. For the adventurous, there are opportunities for white water rafting on the Ganga. The climate here is a continental type but its location in the foot hills gives it pleasant weather throughout the year. One can visit Rishikesh at any time of the year. (1)

Yoga in Rishikesh is very popular , people know rishikesh as a ancient city of Yoga. there’s a cave called vasisth cave, which is 15 km far from rishikesh is known for best meditation place, i’ve been there so many times with our students, the energy of vasisth cave is very powerful.

There’s so many yoga schools are available in Rishikesh, Which provides the yoga teacher training courses at cheapest price, as a experienced yoga teacher i’d suggest you, whenever you choose school for yoga teacher trainings, never go for cheap schools, because i saw many yoga schools that they have yoga teachers who have practiced less then 6 month, but they are teaching, and also if you wanna be  a good teacher you must practice for  1-5 year before you join yoga teacher training, other wise you can join yoga retreats for a little experience.

KERALA

For many travelers, Kerala is South India’s most serenely beautiful state. This slender coastal strip is defined by its layered landscape: almost 600km of glorious Arabian Sea coast and beaches; a languid network of glistening backwaters; and the spice- and tea-covered hills of the Western Ghats, dotted with fiercely protected wildlife reserves and cool hill stations such as Munnar. Just setting foot on this swathe of soul-soothing, palm-shaded green will slow your subcontinental stride to a blissed-out amble.

Kerala is a world away from the frenzy of the rest of India, its long, fascinating backstory illuminated by historically evocative cities like Kochi (Cochin) and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum). (2)

MYSORE

Officially called Mysuru since 2014, the city may sometimes be overlooked by tourists in favor of the neighboring Kochi and Pondicherry. However, the hub is an architectural marvel especially renowned for the stunning Mysore Palace, while its cuisine is a treat for any food lover – the famous Mysore masala dosa is a fine example of this. But most importantly, it is a hotspot for ashtanga yoga and recognized the world over by yogis looking to learn and practice it.

There’s so many yoga shalas in Mysore, they provides ashtanga vinyasa yoga classes and vinyasa flow. One of the best teacher i know in mysore is Ajay kumar.  but they don’t certify you as a ashtanga yoga teacher. if you want to get certify, you have to go KPJYI Mysore.

This grueling practice, developed from ancient texts by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, involves repeating the same series of demanding poses six days a week, once with a teacher and the rest of the time through ‘self-practice’. It is an extremely strict yoga practice and instructors need to be on an authorized list to teach it. The only way to progress is to perfect each pose before moving onto the next. Spending months, even years, feeling ‘stuck’ on a pose can be highly frustrating. But Prasad Bhatdundi, an ashtanga teacher at The Arts Village in Bangalore, explains that this form of yoga is great for teaching patience: “It’s not about putting one hand further forward or wanting to move onto the next pose quickly”, he says. “It’s about being able to concentrate.” (5)
